This was not a good performance for the Cottagers. Defense was lacking for this match. Being in the United States I was only able to catch highlights from their match at Wolves. Both goals that Fulham gave up were very poor defensive efforts. The first goal for Wolves came from a service into the box with only 2 Wolves players and it seemed like 7 Fulham players and Wolves still were able to find the back of the net. The second goal was opposite. There were 5 Wolves players in the box with only 2 Fulham players back to defend. Luckily, Fulham was able to pick up a penalty kick so Wolves weren’t able to claim a clean sheet, but with the way Fulham played, it didn’t look like they deserved much.
The saying goes “Defense wins championships.” In Fulham’s case, defense is what they are going to need to stay out of relegation.
